Super Eagles and Galatasaray top striker Victor Osimhen is eager to heal from his broken arm and return to action when his club clash with rivals Fenerbahce in the Istanbul derby on April 26.
Osimhen cracked his arm during Galatasaray’s visit to Anfield in their second leg Champions League round of 16 tie against Liverpool on March 18. A mid air collision with Ibrahim Konate left him sprawing on the pitch in pain. Osimhen is expected to out of action for six weeks.
Last week, he successfully underwent surgery at Maslak Acıbadem Hospital, a procedure conducted by Yener İnce, the club’s physician.
“Unless something unforeseen happens, Osimhen will be in the starting eleven for the Fenerbahçe match. There is an old Turkish saying: ‘A broken bone heals in as much time as the person’s age,” said’Turkish analyst Levent Tüzemen.
“Taking this into account, along with the progress in contemporary medical technology and my faith in Galatasaray’s skilled doctor, Yener İnce, I am confident that Osimhen will be on the field during the derby.”
This season, Osimhen has recorded 38 goal contributions (28 goals, 10 assists) across 39 matches for both club and country.
