A Canadian plane with 72 passengers and four crew members collided with a fire truck while landing at the LaGuardia Airport in New York USA on Sunday night.
The Air Canada plane which already touch the ground at about 11.40 pm and was taxing down on Runway 4 when it collided a fire truck killing the flight’s pilot and copilot, injuring dozens and temporarily shutting down the New York area’s third-busiest airport.
Two persons on the fire truck that was responding to a different incident were also injured and taken to the hospital in critical condition. The plane had arrived from Montreal.
Flight tracking platform FlightRadar24 said the plane “was rolling down the runway when it struck” the rescue vehicle as it crossed its path.
Several fatal aviation incidents have occurred in the United States in recent months, including a collision between a passenger jet and an army helicopter near Washington in January last year that killed 67 people.
Other incidents and close calls have taken place while aircraft have been on the ground.
