Residents of the University of Jos main campus in Plateau State, Nigeria were treated to a horror show when the body a dead baby was discovered in a sewage pipe.
The grim discovery was made on Friday at the female hostel in the Naraguta area of the campus, sparking an outrage in the University community.
According to a porter at the hostel, the University maintenance team was called to fix a blocked sewage system, following complaints by students of a foul smell and their inability to use the toilet.
The maintenance team got down to work and when they reached the source of the problem they discovered the remains of a baby, believed to have been aborted and flushed down by one of the female students.
Students in the hostel were horrified by the shock find, expressing dismay such a horrible incident could occur in their place of abode. They called for thorough investigations to unravel the circumstances and also to fish out the culprit.
The University authority is yet to issue a statement on the matter.
