Nigerian music artists raked in more than N60 billion in revenue from music streaming on Spotify in 2025.
According to reports by Loud & Clear a platform monitoring economics of music streaming, Nigerian artists’ earnings rose more than 140% over the past two years.
The report said Nigerian artistes recorded 30.3 billion streams and 1.6 billion listening hours on the platform during the year. Their music was discovered by first-time listeners more than 1.3 billion times, representing a 26% increase compared with 2024.
Local artistes dominated domestic charts, accounting for more than 80% of tracks featured on Spotify Nigeria’s Daily Top 50 playlist in 2025. Consumption of Nigerian music within the country also grew by 170% year on year on the platform.
Streaming growth was also notable among specific segments of the industry. Local streams of Nigerian female artistes rose 55% year on year, while Nigerian independent artistes recorded a 75% increase.
Independent artistes and labels accounted for about 58% of all royalties generated by Nigerian artistes on Spotify in 2025, the report said.
