Presidents Trump and Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu’s communications team has debunked a viral social media post claimed to have been made by US President Donald Trump castigating the Nigerian government over its failure to protect Nigerians from terror attacks.
The post on X social media platform by user @iOccupyNigeria claimed that President Donald Trump criticised Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu over insecurity. It had catch phrase like “TOTAL DISASTER,” and “NO LEADERSHIP.” The post, last edited at 10:14 p.m. on March 16, 2026, had already generated 273,900 views, 484 comments, 2,500 likes and 687 bookmarks at the time of review.
But according to Sunday Dare special adviser on media and public communications to President Tinubu, the social media post was a fabrication by opponents of the President.
He said a cross check of all the verified social media handles of President Trump and that of the US government had no such post lampooning President Bola Tinubu
“This post does not exist on any whitehouse.gov platform or any of President Donald Trump’s social media pages. Verify before you post,” Dare noted.
