Nigerian music legend Innocent Idibia a.k.a 2Baba and the Nigeria defence ministry headed by Gen. Christopher Musa rtd are aiming to start a campaign to dissuade youths from violence using music.
According to 2Baba there is an urgent need to reorientate the youths and promote positive change by using music as a medium. He said the initiative will stimulate conversations on how to mitigate against insecurity and violent crimes by creating opportunities for youths to express themselves in a positive experiential engagement.
Speaking on the drive Gen. Musa stated that it falls in line with government’s non-kinetic approach to tackling insecurity. He said the “Africa Queen” crooner has a great influence on Nigerian youths and he was a credible strong voice to promote a change.
According to experts, Nigerian youths need creative platforms like entertainment and sports to channel their energy toward constructive national development as studies suggest a significant percentage of young people remain vulnerable to recruitment into violent crimes.
