Tanzanian clubside Singida Black Stars SC said it found no evidence their goalkeeper Amas Obasogie was involved in match-fixing.
According to the club after an internal investigation, it was determined that Obasogie a third-choice keeper for the Super Eagles made technical errors and not intentional match fixing mistakes.
Obasogie was alleged to have thrown matches in the CAF Confederation Cup clash against Flambeau du Centre, and in league fixtures against Pamba Jiji FC and Namungo FC. He was given a three-month suspension by the club, while the investigation was on.
“The incidents that raised concerns have been determined to be technical errors within the game,” the club said in a statement.
Obasogie said he regretted his mistakes that led to the suspicion of match-fixing. According to him, he would worker harder to prevent a repeat of such poor performances. He has been a regular for Singida Black Stars SC since joining in 2025 from Ethiopian side Ethiopian side Fasil Kenema.
