Following a plea bargain deal former Minister of Aviation Stella Oduah has begun to refund funds she allegedly looted from the public purse.
Mrs. Oduah and co-defendant Gloria Odita have been facing five count fraud charges. They allegedly obtained N2.5 billion under false pretense by listing a nonexistence cost of technical supervision and security in the Ministry of Aviation.
Oduah served as Aviation Minister during the regime of former President Goodluck Jonathan, between July 2, 2011, to February 12, 2014, she later served as a two-term Senator representing Anambra North Senatorial distrisct.
She and her co-defender Odita have been negotiating a plea bargain in the case and on Thursday, Director of Public Prosecution of the Federation Mr. Rotimi Oyedepo SAN during a hearing at the Federal Capital Territory High Court disclosed that Oduah is taking steps to make a refund and avoid jail time.
“The defendants have made a move to refund a certain amount of the money into the government coffers.” Oyedepo said.
Oduah was arraigned on December 10, 2025, by the Attorney-General of the Federation.
