Faith Ineh... dies in a freak accident.

A young promising athlete, Favour Ineh has tragically lost her life after she was pinned to a tree by a young driver who wanted to empress with his new vehicle.
The incident occurred Thursday afternoon in front the Stadium Hostel around the St Bridget area of Asaba, Delta State, leaving athletes, coaches and the parents of the athlete in shock.
According to eyewitness account, the driver a friend to one of the athletes had come around trying to impress them with his vehicle by playing a prank of wanting to hit them, but in the process, he lost control and rammed into the athletes, pinning Ineh to the tree, she died on the spot.
“Ineh, Blessing Ojeli and others were resting under the tree after training, when he came around trying to impress them with his new vehicle, but sadly things went wrong,” said Charles Hima former Athletics Federation of Nigeria athletes’ rep.
“Ineh wasn’t fast enough to get out of the way like the others, unfortunately she was pinned to the tree with such a force that bounced the vehicle off the tree. It was a shocking incident which has left the athletes and coaches devastated.”
Ineh, 17, a javelin thrower won silver at the last national youth games in Asaba and was hoping to be in the next African junior championships.
“Unfortunately, her dream has been cut short by an act of carelessness, she was very talented and hard working in training,” Mr. Hima added.
It was gathered that the driver reported himself to the police in Asaba and has made a statement claiming that he mistakenly put the car in a reverse gear. The police are now investigating the incident.
