Three Akwa Ibom State Commissioners have left their posts rather than join the All-Progressive Congress as requested by Governor Umo Eno.
The commissioners include Ini Ememobong Special Duties and Ibom Deep Seaport, Engr Eno Ibanga Works and Emem Almond Bob Finance. Also, out of 26 lawmakers in the state House of Assembly, 15 members have refused to join Eno in APC, while 11 members followed.
Governor Eno who himself announced his defection to the APC Friday had told his cabinet members to go with him. But according to  Mr. Ememobong, his principles does not align with those of the APC.
“Today, I have tendered my resignation to the Governor in compliance with his directive that his appointees who are unwilling to join him on the political journey to the APC should resign,” he stated in a Facebook post.
“While I cannot question or fault the Governor’s personal decision, I am unable to join in that sojourn. My decision is borne out of my belief in politics with principles and my long-standing opposition to that political platform, which is daily validated by numerous Nigerians across many sectors.”
He made it clear that his resignation does not reflect any personal disagreement with Eno.
“This decision does not affect my personal relationship with the Governor, who calls me his brother and reposed great confidence in me by saddling me with two very important ministries (Information and Special Duties & Ibom Deep Sea Port),” he wrote.
