Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs, once considered hip-hop royalty and a titan of the music industry, is now facing what could be the defining and most devastating chapter of his life.
The embattled mogul appeared in federal court Monday as his long-anticipated sex trafficking trial officially kicked off in New York. Prosecutors allege a “decades-long criminal enterprise” operated under the guise of Combs’ entertainment empire, one that could see him sentenced to life in prison if convicted.
The Department of Justice has charged Combs with multiple counts, including sex trafficking, obstruction of justice, racketeering, and witness intimidation. According to federal prosecutors, Diddy used his status, wealth, and extensive business network to recruit, exploit, and silence victims.
The government claims this “predatory network” spanned across multiple states and involved numerous accomplices, some of whom were allegedly employed by his label, Bad Boy Entertainment.
In court filings, prosecutors painted a chilling picture: lavish parties, coercive drug use, secret recordings, and violent outbursts used to control victims and cover up the alleged abuse. One government official close to the case reportedly referred to the charges as “one of the most extensive celebrity-led sex trafficking operations ever brought to trial.”
