Former Super Eagles striker and 2013 Africa Cup of Nations winner, Brown Ideye said Nigerian foreign-based players are willing to return to the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) and play.
Ideye, after almost twenty years in Europe with various clubs, joined Enyimba of Aba following in the footsteps of former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa who pitched his tent with his former club Kano Pillars after his sojourn in Europe and the Middle East ended.
“I received a lot of messages from other players playing abroad,” Ideye said.
“They too are looking forward to be part of this thing that is going on, which is foreign players coming back to play. So I think it is something good.”
Ideye made his return to the NPFL last weekend in Enyimba’s game against Bendel Insurance. He described as a good start though he did not start the game. He was introduced in the 85th minute.
“It was good. So far I feel great.”
I was expecting to enter early in the game. But I will say that the coach knows better,” said Ideye.
