Bukayo Saka scored twice in Arsenal’s 3-0 win over Monaco in Wednesday night’s Champions League tie at the Emirates Stadium.
But Saka was denied taking the match ball home when Kai Havertz deflected in the winger’s goal bound shot to make it three for Arsenal.
It would have been Saka’s first hattrick for the Gunners. And would have been his 10th goal of the season in all competitions.
“Yeah, just about! He [Havertz] got in the way of my hattrick. But don’t worry, it’s coming. It’s coming,” Saka said.
Gunners coach Mikel Arteta praised Saka’s contributions saying: “He looks really mature. What he has already done in the game at his age is incredible. Very humble, a great guy to have around and an incredible talent
“He’s a special person. In his role his leadership is increasing. With the young kids he is amazing, with the seniors he is amazing. He is loved by everybody and he makes the difference on the pitch.”
