Jump it like Brume...

Nigerian long jumper, Ese Brume said winning the 2022 Commonwealth Games gold with a games record has proven that she is a highly consistent athlete who is focused on achieving more results.
Brume, who also holds the African record with a mark of 7.12m, at the Birmingham Commonwealth Games concluded on Monday jumped 7.00m to win the gold. That gold could have been her heart-trick of gold, but she couldn’t make the Gold Coast Games in 2018 after winning her first title in Glasgow 2014. Brume has already won a heart-trick of gold at the African senior championships and a junior double in the long jump and triple jump.
“Sometimes it’s about how you’re able to show that what you’re doing is not a fluke.
“Getting the Games record and gold is special for me, because it shows consistency. It shows the hard work of all those that have supported me, and my coach who has been backing me up.
“This is one thing I really wanted – to get the Games record,” she added.
She added that her achievement, that of Tobi Amusa and the ten other women who won gold for Nigeria at the Games will inspire more to take to sports.
“I know this will be an inspiration for them,” Brume told BBC Sport Africa.
“Of course, when you see someone you look up to doing well, you want to definitely be like them. So this is going to motivate and inspire them.
“I hope it works.”
